I was 15 when my world became so small,

Girls and fame and fortune, that’s all.

So quickly they came and even quicker they went,

Fading as fast as eyes come to a squint.

Why was life so pointless and self-centered?

All while I was seeking to help others and mentor.

The hypocrisy seeped out of my veins like blood,

Surrounding my thoughts and feelings as a flood.

But I know who I am and who I was made to be,

A child of God born to live and be set free.

I do not have to follow the worthless idols of my past.

The great victory of Christ makes me new at last.
