Amongst the pile of shit and grime was something shiny. This interested me, because I am a big fan of shiny things. I hope from branch to beam to clutter to reach it, and I pull it out with my beak. It’s a long loop of connected smaller loops of metal. Attached to it is a small line of metal, perpendicularly crossing a longer line of metal. It’s the same shape I see on top of some roofs of some buildings. I’m not sure what I’ll use it for yet, but I’m sure it’s worth keeping around. I hope back out into a clearing, unfurl my wings and head back home.

“Hey check this shit out,” I say upon my arrival.

“Wow. Very cool. Neat find.” They all say in response.

“I’ll put it in our special storage space for safe keeping,” says mother. Mother is very kind. She keeps all of the cool things I find some where special, that way I don’t lose it, and it never gets stolen. She won’t even tell ME where it’s at, I guess she doesn’t trust me to keep the secret. I am not good at keeping secrets. That’s probably why mom thinks I couldn’t keep a secret.

I decide to follow her though. I’d like to see all the things I’ve collected throughout the years, plus I love knowing secrets. I spot her only about a block away. A less thorough hiding spot than I would’ve imagined. She’s down by the beach, hopping around on salty sandy rocks. I fly a little closer to get a better view, I gotta know what crack she’s been throwing my stuff into. To my surprise she keeps getting closer to the water though. In fact, she puts my find in the water. That’s not a good hiding spot at all, it’ll get washed away, you’ll never find it. That’s a terrible hiding spot. Im sure none of my stuff is even left. She flies away while I hide from her behind some red back. I go to where she was, and sure enough my chain, and all other treasures are gone. What the shit. I can’t believe mom wanted to keep my stuff safe, and still chose a terrible spot. That’s where you would put stuff that you have no use for, for stuff you actually want to get rid of. Not all of my cool shit.
