Sleep Paralysis
The green light from the smoke detector catches my eye
It seems so real yet it could all be a lie
Before I have been deceived and therefore I am wary
My own body and mind are often what I find most scary
I try to look around to find an error or a smugde
But my neck is stiff and though I try, it will not budge
I can feel my entire body becoming heavy as can be
As i hear a sound outside my door
Is he coming for me?
Pearls of sweat are forming on my skin
I could be drowning in them without even noticing
I hear the door open and feel a wave of relief
As I see my dear friend looking calmy upon me
I suddenly wonder why she disturbs me at this late hour
And horrified i realise that I can hear someone else in the shower
I want to scream, to tell her to flee
But no sound comes out and she just stares blankly at me
Then I understand that she knows what he’ll do
“Don’t worry” she says “he has a bullet for me too”
It all turned out to be nothing but a dream
But still, every night it returns and I awaken in a scream
