—but whatever you do, don’t fall

I looked at him as if he were

a mountain,

and I was overwhelmed with

wanderlust.

My eyes began their ascent,

feet to legs, legs to hips—

and there they stopped to take a dip

To marvel at his wonders.

Reluctantly I continued my

travels due north,

Until I met lush lips that called

out to my traitorous own.

But I couldn’t stop there, heavens

no—

I wouldn’t stop there, so up I

go.

I reach my destination—

The most brilliant shade of green

Crashing into my blue,

Surely as the land meets the sea.

On the summit of my soul,

I dare a glance beyond, around,

And sadly I realize—

What goes up must come down.
