A Way To Write

I smooth out the notebook paper on my desk and begin to write, only, I can’t. Sitting there, I push my pencil on the desk, waiting for inspiration, but my mind is blank, like a big, black void that ate my thoughts up. I grab a cup of coffee from the kitchen and trot back to my spot at the desk, when I see a fluffy, white intruder. Smiling, I pat Snow on the head and lift her up onto the desk. “Got any inspiration?” I ask her. She bats her beautiful blue eyes and paws at my pencil. And that is when inspiration hits. I begin to write:

‘Once upon a time in a land far away, lived a cat named Snow . . .”

Years Later

The Snow and Lily bookstore overflows with customers desperate to read my fifth book in the Snow and Lily book series. I grin as I sign a little girl’s book. “Here you go, sweetheart.” I say. “Have Snow sign it to, please!” The girl begs. “Alright.” I say, grabbing my cat and placing her paw on the page. The girl giggles and runs off, her mother close behind. I watch as Snow licks her paw. “Thanks girl, for everything.”
