WRITING OBSTACLE
Write a poem about the sea that does not use the words
Deep,
Blue,
Shimmering,
Cold.
Synonyms and creativity will help you find ways to convey the enormousness and beauty of the ocean without using these common descriptors.
Final Fall
(TW: suicide)
A vast world –
Stretching before and below.
Unfathomable expanse
waiting in inky darkness
to welcome me.
Fear holds me fast.
Fear pushes me forward.
I adjust the bulk
surrounding my body –
the heft that will carry me
to my final fall.
Waves and rocking work in tandem
with my heartbeat –
here faster,
slower now.
I am already one with the sea.
Splash.
The frigid blanket embraces me.
Home.
At last
