Water, fire, earth, and air. What would the four elements say if they could speak to each other?
Include as many or as few elements as you wish.
Elemental : The Awakening
Earth:
I have held humanity for years and years.
For their first cry, I was all ears.
Tickled their tiny bare feet as they played,
Wrote down all their cheers and fears.
I preserved their first laughter and first tears.
I have been always with them,
From the very beginning-since they whispered my name,
Until the last goodbye, when into my depths-
They were regained.
Fire:
I still remember the first time I saw their eyes glowing,
As they found out that I’m here.
My flames were sparkling in the depths of their eyes,
With every step, I drew closer.
Although I can burn their fingers sometimes,
But I can still warm their freezing hearts in winter.
I have been standing in the middle,
Loved by some and feared by others,
Yet, I’m a necessity still!
Water:
There is no life without me.
That’s what I have been told.
Wherever I pass, I spread vitality.
This is my existence core.
The flowers sprout, the trees get green,
The prettiest view you have ever seen.
I’m flowing in rivers, seas and oceans,
And as if that were not enough, I flow in their veins.
I have danced with the clouds,
And fallen on the ground.
Gathered in the hands of a little kid,
Or maybe in a fantasy lake, I hid.
Air:
I have passed by so many generations.
Preserved the stories of the ones who left,
That only today can interpret.
The old tales, I was able to carry.
And the whispers too, I can’t deny.
I can be sometimes a gentle breeze,
But other times, I turn into a strong wind.
Every year I pass by some people who I used to know,
As I come the next season I find that they chose to go.
Here, the memories-in my mind- begin to show,
And since I can’t let it snow,
I can do only one thing-let you close your windows.
Together:
We hold humans in every step,
We catch their moments before they slip,
From the edge of life and age.
We paint all moments on an empty page.
To turn it into a vivid drawing,
To be preserved-hanging by a string.
