The rain slams against the window, coming down in sheets outside. I laugh and run out the door, ignoring grandma’s yelling to put a coat on.

I run straight through the puddles, all the way to Jim’s house.

The snow speckles the floor and I know it’s begun, the winter is here, the snow season is here.

I grab my skates from under my bed to double check they fit, not long now till I’ll get to use them!

I run outside at the first yells of ‘it’s raining!’, grabbing the buckets as I go.

The fat drops hit my skin and the equally cracked ground and the whole world seems to sigh in joy.

The drought is over.
