WRITING OBSTACLE
Submitted by Lizzie Rose.
Write a poem or story about fog, steering away from any horror themes.
Usually when we think of fog, our minds come up with a daunting image. Try to make your story/poem beautiful.
Seeing In The Fog
Early one morning
The fog surrounds me
A hazy veil
Like a cool cloth laying over the hard ground
The air is soft and wet
The fog blurs the normal scenery
If the fog can hide what is there
How do we know it still is there?
Do we assume it has not moved?
Perhaps we move gently through the fog
Letting it caress our skin
Perhaps we feel for those objects
Which should be there
Or maybe
Fog tells us something more
Maybe it tells us to quit trying to look so far ahead
Because we can miss what is right in front of us
Perhaps it’s telling us to focus on what we can see
What we can do
Maybe fog is the worlds way of telling us
Hey, slow down
I think fog scares people
Because they cannot see what lies far ahead
But they forget if they move forward
Carefully, slowly
And focus on what’s in front of them
Then they will find what is far ahead
Still there, waiting the whole time
What is meant to be there for us
Will be there
Even if we focus on our now
Focus on our present
And focus on what the fog lets us see
