When The Sun Rises

The bright glow of a light

The warmth of the morning

That’s when it all begins

That’s when I have a chance

A new chance

A chance to try

And try again

And end up feeling lost

That’s what I do with my days

I spend them

Wondering

Hoping

Maybe even dreaming

And then when the bright sun

Disappears behind the mountains

And I shut my eyes

That’s when I realize I’m worth nothing

You tried

Yeah maybe I did

You wanted it to work out

I know I did

So why does it never work out?

I drift to sleep

These questions in my mind

Then when the sun rises

And the world is cast in a warm glow

I wake with a smile on my face

It’s a new day

A day I’ll end with tears

But for now

For this one tiny moment

Today is a day

The sun is the sun

And I’m going to be me

People think it’s a science the way the sun works

But it’s not

Magic is what happens when the sun rises

Waking up is always different from going to sleep. Like when it’s dark, you’re exhausted and still stuck over what happened that day and the emotions that came with it, so for me nights are when my thoughts get harder to keep good. But in the morning, the night is yesterdays and it seems so far away. Mornings make you feel fresh and more at ease. Especially with the sun rising and everything. You captured that beautifully. I love the positivity you gave the sun, because sometimes we forget how truly beautiful light can be💛💛💛

Beautiful 🖤

I think this poem summarizes something very important about the world and humankind: we get up, we fall, but then we get back up again. It seems hopeless sometimes, but it’s not, because of what you said in “but for now, for this one tiny moment, today is a day, the sun is the sun, and I’m going to be me.” Yeah, we’re all just wandering around aimlessly, and yeah, it might be pointless in the end when you really think about it, but we live for those tiny moments. Those moments are what create lives.

Anyway, I think that’s a really good theme of most philosophical thinking, and you expressed it in a really clear way. Almost everyone goes through this exact process at some point or another, and you wrote it in a way that felt like you were letting the reader in on a secret. Again, I always love the tone of your poems!❤️❤️❤️
