Sing For Freedom.
We are all in cages, each of us.
Though some of them are far too small
Some have windows in leu of bars
And some don’t feel like cages at all.
Some cages, they are self created
With no true lock upon their doors
While they claim themselves imprisoned
They make sure there’s locks on yours.
We know why the caged bird sings
It sings of freedom it can’t know
Not until it understands
How many cages are in a row.
Escape from one into another
Endless bars stand in the way.
But with each cage that’s broken through
We find more friends to join the fray.
What you see beyond your bars
It’s not the freedom you desire.
Through each cage door is the next enclosure.
So don’t stop now, keep climbing higher.
Climb and bring those you find with you.
Never settle for being caged.
Together, break through bars and windows.
Don’t let your drive for freedom be assuaged.
We know why the caged bird sings.
It sings of freedom it yearns to see.
Only once we all join in the choir.
Will each and every one be free.
