City Of Hope
The sand poured in,
The doorway creaked,
The sun blared down,
Casting a harsh shadow over the sand.
The sand was hot,
It burned my hand,
The wind hurt,
Like bullets of sand pelting me from all directions.
There was no water in sight,
No matter how far I looked.
I walked and walked.
And walked,
And walked.
For hours I walked in a line,
Holding onto the small hope I had left.
Water was a necessity,
Especially in the harsh climate of the desert.
I kept walking ‘till I finally found a town.
I ran towards it,
Desperate for help.
Yet through all my trials,
All my struggles,
I did not have enough strength,
To make it to the city of Hope.
