POEM STARTER
"“What did you do?”
Write a poem that incorporates this question three times.
Choose any theme you’d like, as long as you use repetition to create an interesting effect.
Why Don’t You Love Me
I planted roses in the shape of your name,
petals trembling in the hush of my longing.
But you walked past with untamed indifference,
never stopping to read their bloom.
I whisper—*What did you do, my love?*
The ocean wears the color of my sorrow,
waves rushing to carry my quiet confessions.
But you danced along the shore, untouched,
leaving footprints that never looked back.
I murmur—*What did you do, my love?*
The stars wrote sonnets in the hush of midnight,
silver ink spilling where my heart once lay.
But your eyes found no poetry in my devotion,
turning toward a sky that was never ours.
I sigh—*What did you do, my love?*
