I Am The Monster
I
Am
The
Monster
Hidden in the darkness of a cave
Disconnected, a bounded slave
My surroundings are a trove of my unwanted past
Bounded limbs are testaments I can’t outlast
I
Am
The
Monster
Imprisoned by man
Just another thing they aren’t willing to understand
You stumble upon me when you are lost
And then get angry when you must pay my cost!
I
Am
The
Monster
Who should rip you to shreds!
Put you in my collection of disembodied heads !
Go away!
Please Obey!
I
Am
The
Monster
With sharpened teeth, the one who only leaves behind grief.
And you, standing there are nothing but a thief!
You’re trying to steal from a vicious old me!
Come closer and pay my final fee
I
Am
The
Monster
So why are you offering your hand?
Stop this, I don’t understand!
You say a name that rings through this wretched cave
A name that shakes me, a name I crave
I
Am
The
Monster
So why am I crying?
Why are you not on the floor close to dying?
I look at you, recognition in my eyes
And then with one hand you pull off my disguise
I am not the monster
Just a woman who is all fight
Someone who bound herself to this cave one night
You take off the things that chain me here
You look at my face without any fear
I cannot take it!
I cannot commit!
I
Am
The
Monster
Remember this, I said
And then in one single gulp, I left you for dead.
Surrounded by my past, corpses rotten with my sin
I look upon them all with a sickly grin
I
Am
The
Monster
