Hope is not a value

A quantitative measure

Hope is the absence of hope

Just when you think you have none

You have the most

Because you gain hope when it seems hopeless

You are not hoping when you are happy

When the sky is bright and blue

And the sun is peaking through the clouds

You hope when you can’t see the sun

When the stars aren’t shining

When it feels like they abandon you

For that is when you hope

That is when you have faith the sun

The stars

They will come back

Or even

That is when you have faith

You can be your own light

And guide yourself to a brighter sky

By lighting it up yourself

Your hope is strongest

When you have none at all
