I bought a one-way ticket to rock bottom again Because I was feeling homesick And the only cure to the virus was to lie, curled up in the fetal position, missing the warmth of my mother’s womb. Before sentience— Before awareness— I was at peace. And I didn’t know what love was. The stinking, rotting love That oozed from a festered wound, The imprint of the brute’s teeth Left to beat black and blue Where my heart was a ticking time bomb. I kept pushing back the explosion— Waiting for the stars in his eyes to grant my greatest wish. I did not ask for good luck Or infamy— But contentment. A man who is walking sunshine, Warming my body, cold from its grave. On the third day, he told me he loved me, And I rose.
The metal blade Sharp on my skin The pain So exhilarating
I’ve always been afraid to do this But now… I don’t care
The heat is satisfying all my deeper pains By bringing them to the surface The agony of the cuts Encompasses the pains from below
I love the look of the blood The “battle scars” That nobody is allowed to see Except me
Like I know this is wrong But the feeling and the urge I need to calm it
My hope has been gone
So when all hope is finally lost,
Is this what we rely on?
When autumn arrives, The birds start to soar, None as high or far, As the geese migrating.
Miles and miles, Their shadows stroking the ground, The birds leaping through clouds, Reaching for stars and touching the sun.
Yet how far can a bird fly, Before they start to falter, To wane and whine and wail, As the destination never nears?
Because of this, Geese never migrate alone, They fly in a V, As they venture from their home.
When one goose tires, They ride the current of the another, So when their own wings fail, They soar with the wind of others.
Hope never truly leaves us It is always by our side Hope is a must If we are to survive
We have to believe Until our final breath That hope will prevail And give us success
Even when all seems loss Hope in our chest will twist and toss Figure out new ways To escape our worst days
The future is one of hopes mighty tools We use them to get us out of deadly whirl-pools The future is a form of hope that pushes us along And convinces us to keep singing our song
Just look ahead and imagine glory and happiness Look past everything that’s just a fixable mess You are very brave and strong Hope knows that as he guides you along
When the ones who gave you life are so over your existence, Who is next? The schools, Full of fools. They just make it worse, If I don’t let the tears spew then the words will burst. My palms sweat when I think whose really there, If I end it all now, who would care? One girl whose just there for a good joke, Would she think it’s a giggle for the woke. When they finally see a lifeless body, Will they finally believe me.
Fledge peered over what felt like a limitless expanse. Even with how tiny Buzzy appeared, Fledge could tell what she was doing. Any time Buzzy noticed a bit of water on the ground, she would stare at it for… well… too long. Buzzy wanted to make sure that each feather was in its place. So instead of trying to find a way back to Fledge, Buzzy was obsessing over her image.
Fledge squawked loudly at Buzzy, but she didn’t seem to notice. Next, Fledge hurled a rock toward Buzzy, but it fell hopelessly into the canyon. There was simply no reaching Buzzy.
Night soon fell, and the flat desert reflected moonlight in a way that fledge had never encountered. Finally, Buzzy looked over at fledge. But something was off. As Buzzy walked to the lip of the canyon, large bits of moonlight seemed to fall from her eyes. Fledge expected Buzzy to take flight, but she instead walked over the edge, falling quickly out of sight.
I try And I try And I try And I try
My effort stretched for miles If laid out in a line.
Higher than high My goals in the sky I did everything I could To bring them to life
I tried. I really did.
The late nights Little sleep Lost track of time Forgot to eat
I pushed myself so far Past my limit I made myself die.
My eyes sigh My heart cries
What more could I have done? What more could I still do?
Everything I worked for…
_I will never achieve. _ __ __ __ To my younger self, I apologize
To my future self, Why?
To my present self, What now?
If there’s nothing more I can try…
I must rest.
My eyes sigh My heart cries My smile dies
So I must lie
Down to rest.
Perhaps tomorrow I will try
Again.
Hope fades So does the light The waters of the sea of grief Close in around me Tight I try to swim for where it was I try to scream for there it was And now it’s gone.
I claw desperately at salted air Green blue and dark And I am there Drowning there For there it was And now it’s gone When all hope fails, what do we rely on?
