High Above The City

Six hours and thirteen minutes. A new world record. When Jim reached the top of the Burj Khalifa, he broke the world record set in 2011 by Alain Robert by a full fifty-five seconds. He wasn’t just high above the city, he was on top of the world. Of course, the thrill of reaching the top was nothing compared to the intense feeling Jim was experiencing now.

Of course, Jim didn’t know he broke the world record. And no one else knew that Jim had broken the record. Because no one else had been there when he reached the summit at 2:16 AM. And twelve and a half seconds from now, no one would ever know. It’s amazing how much faster the descent is. But this is so much better.

Exhilaration. Liberation. Jubilation. And then, the end.
