POEM STARTER
Write a poem about the heart, focusing on its physicality and actions.
Avoid the kind of metaphors and language which are normally associated with the heart's emotional connection.
the only girl in the world
your laugh is melodic your smile is perfection your heart is-
your heart is so big and your hugs are so warm and
there aren’t enough words in this world
to describe you,
but for you i will find them,
i will search forever and i will find the perfect
syllables
to write the green of your eyes
or maybe the hazel
or the dots and flecks of brown on a vast green canvas, like an ink pot was spilled and when the sunlight shines all i want to do
is stare in your eyes forever
your hands are big and safe and happy
and i want them to hold me, rock me closer
until i’m not sad
until you’re not sad
because we have each other
but you have her
you have her and i wish i had you
but i don’t i can’t
but oh god,
my heart feels like a waterdroplet in a rainstorm when i see you,
budum budum budum and i can’t breath
becasuse your so breathtakingly
stunning
and my friends, my friends, they see it too but they
don’t get that feeling, i don’t think,
not quite the way i do
they don’t know how happy you make me,
how high flying tumbling pinwheels through the grand blue sky i feel when i see you
when you look my way or laugh at something i whispered, hoping you would hear
the way you say my name
a love this great isn’t something
i think i could ever get over
so i will wait,
until your ready until your happy without her
and then i will make you see yourself the way i see you
i will make you feel like
the only girl in the world
becasue youre the only girl in the world
for me
