POEM STARTER
Compose a Tanaga on the theme of laughter.
A Tanaga is a form of Filipino poetry often compared to Haikus. Tanagas use 4 lines of 7 syllables each, and are often full of metaphors.
His Laughter
[the simile in the first stanza, referring to ‘wine’ has nothing to do with anything in real life. I promise, to those who know my age or the basic basis of my age, I have not and will not underage dr!nk. Just getting that clear because after I reread this, I noticed that someone might take that the wrong way.]
-
His laughter was my sunshine,
the reason I tried so hard.
I was never really funny,
but his laughter was like wine.
It was smooth, near addictive,
seeing his smile, hearing
the sound of gorgeous laughter,
especially causing it.
His laughter was my sunshine,
it always made me giggle,
even though I would never.
But soon the skies grew darker.
Forever gone was sunshine,
no longer a moon or sun,
and so became a dark time.
because his laughter was gone.
