POEM STARTER

Submitted by Margaret Sok

“You’ve come back, but I no longer need you.”

Write a poem or short story including this line.

You

You’ve come back, but I no longer need you

Family is supposed to be there for you

That’s what they say

But you weren’t there for me

The longing for your presence is not a necessity

The pain my heart used to ache is never forgotten

Those lonely nights of my tears filling oceans

The dark corners of my room never forget my presence

My bed indented with my body outline

The house looks empty

Because you were supposed to fill it

You should of been there

You should of been there, for me
