Maria rises from the soft mattress of pillows and blankets, not realizing of what was lurking in the shadows. She woke up to a faint, but annoying, buzzing and ringing sound in her ear. It seemed high-pitched, yet she had no idea, since she just woke up. She felt irked by this, so she tried to wake up her other friends in the same room, but they wouldn’t budge; only the sounds of snoring and moving around filled the bedroom.

Maria decides to move into the kitchen to get a snack. The clock ticks. DING! STRIKE! It’s officially 2:30 a.m.. A faint, childish noise comes from behind her, giving a simple hello.

“Jesus, Braxton, you scared me! What are you doing up?”

“I sorry, sissy. I just wanted to see if there was anything to eat.”

“Okay, buddy. Next time, try to warn me that you are there, k?”

“Ok.”

“Do you want a PB&J? That’s what I was gonna get, too!”

“Ok, that sounds good!” Braxton picks up the sandwich from his sister’s hand. “Bye-bye. Love you!”

“I love you too.”

Maria puts Braxton back to bed, right by her parents. She sees that her parents have left the catastrophe of clothes and blankets surrounding the king sized bed. She finds this odd, since she has not seen her parents roaming around the house anywhere.

She grabs her premade peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and heads back to her bedroom with her friends.

As she is entering the doorway of her room, she sees two shadowy figures looking down at her friend, Stephanie.

“Stephanie? Hello?” She calls to her faintly.

She steps back, dropping her food. Screams are heard from her and the rest of the girls who wake up in an instant. There have been two green, tall, extraterrestrial beings looking down on her, lifting her into the ceiling. Their arms are flowing around, like pool noodles in the ocean waves.

She floats up, drifting right through the roof. Maria and the rest of her friends run outside to try and save her, but it’s too late. Stephanie has been abducted, and put into an Unidentified Foreign Object; UFO.

Maria thinks to herself why her parents were missing; she comes to the horrific conclusion that they were abducted, too. They call the cops and they tell Maria and her friends that they are crazy.

She begs the cops to come to the house. They scold her for being childish and inappropriate. They hung up after telling Maria to never call 911 again unless it is a complete emergency.

No one knows what happened after this event, but everyone is certain that they will never be the same again. There are still theories to this case, but no one knows the truth. It happened 50 years ago, but it still chills the readers’ spines.
