POEM STARTER
Write a poem about the heart, focusing on its physicality and actions.
Avoid the kind of metaphors and language which are normally associated with the heart's emotional connection.
Hearts don’t break they beat
Today I had a heart attack
In the back of your SUV
No one was there to save me
No one could even see
Today I had a heart attack
So bad I couldn’t breathe
I could feel my veins contracting
My arteries squashed up like peas
Today I had a heat attack
Because mine is so fragile
Just a little pain
And my ribs start to rattle
Today I had a heart attack
And now my heart doesn’t beat
No one was there to save me
No one could even see
