Walking Asleep
Another day, another bed
I don’t remember the words I said.
The act done, A faceless fling
Sadly still silence on my heart strings.
Asleep I walk through life’s mortal grounds
Never hearing a meaningful sound.
Days to weeks, never knowing what i seek.
Months to years, now scared to even peek.
I hold my head down
Not wanting to show the living my frown.
Then out of the winter air
Came a bright light, his eyes ever fair.
I feel a sture, my body quakes
With every work he speaks and sentence makes.
Winter begone, I hear a song.
Sang by the one I love from this day on.
Hours are slow yet years are fast.
I no longer walk asleep above the grass.
My love for keeps me strong.
My fire warming as I play my heart strings song.
You showed me love was more than an embrace
Through every thing you brought a smile to my face.
I know now what true love is to be
Our lives growing together like a tree.
For even when the seasons change
And our leaves fall with the rain.
Our roots togeather we will grow
The love we share will keep us warm in the snow.
And it reminds us of what we know
We will awake in summer to continue to grow.
