Is That You Daddy?

A woman in her mid thirties stepped slowly down the cellar steps. “Cindy! Cindy, are you down here again!?” The cellar would have been empty if it wasn’t for the a young girl who huddled near a small tv that she had put in front of her mattress and blankets. “Listen Cindy, we need to have a talk.” Cindy didn’t move a single blond hair on her head, instead she made a small groan to indicate that she was semi-listening. The older woman sat next to Cindy on the mattress. “Cindy, I know you loved your father, but you know… Cindy I know that you need to have realized that Dad is dead. He died in a car accident, and he will not come back. Staring at the Tv that he fixed will not bring him from the dead.” Cindy started to rock back and forth; while keeping her fists clenched. “Why don’t you come upstairs with mommy, and I will give you a nice bath and some food, alright? You haven’t eaten in days.” Cindy turned around and stared at her mother with bloodshot eyes.

“Mommy lies. You are lying to me! Daddy is dead, but I can bring him back. Guess what I found mommy?”

“What did you find?” The woman asked but almost wished that she hadn’t.

“I found one of daddy’s hairs on his old pillow. Then I saw a man on the Tv who told me…”

“Hey Cindy. Calm down, you need rest. That Tv hasn’t been working for a while now.” Cindy started screaming and getting closer and closer to her mother.

“Let me finish, Mommy! Or I won’t hesitate to reunite you with your husband!” The woman gasped and stood up from the mattress immediately. Cindy stopped crying and simply smiled while maintaining her stare at the woman. “Oh I’m sorry Mommy! I misspoke. I am so so sorry! Anyways as I was saying, the man told me that if I had a hair of my daddy and if did a little something for him; I could see my daddy again!” The woman opened her mouth to say something, but Cindy pointed at the blanket on her bed and said. “Guess what else I found?” Cindy’s mother had tears forming in her eyes but she still reluctantly lurched over to the blankets and lifted them up. The woman screamed even louder than Cindy had before. Under the blankets was discovered to be a knife that had a good amount of leftover blood. “The man told me that he needed a little blood, but I really wanted to see daddy again so I just gave him as much blood as I could.” As Cindy lifted her hands up, the woman saw that Cindy had slit the middle of both her palms with the knife.

“Cindy, please stop this! You do not need to do this anymore! Please come back to me!”Cindy frowned when her mother cried this.

“Mommy, you have always been too strict… Wait!” Cindy screeched again but then she stood silent for a moment. “Look at the Tv, mommy! The man is here.” The pixels that were on the Tv was slowly covered by a dripping black ooze that completely covered the screen. Inside of the ink that flooded the screen popped two bulging eyeballs.

“Good Job, my precious baby.” Said the man on the television to Cindy. “You know ma’am…” The Tv man addressed the Mother this time. “Your daughter really is a good girl. She has been helping me so much recently. The only thing she hasn’t done was give me the blood of a family member. Can you please help me with that?” The woman screamed and tried to run up the stairs, but the Television screen grew a mouth with teeth and a long pointed tongue like that of a snake. The Tv launched his tongue to seize the woman before she could escape. The woman couldn’t even say a word before the tongue had covered up her mouth, and retracted into the Tv like a frog’s tongue. For a moment the Tv screen showed Cindy’s mother drowning in the ink-like ooze, before she was completely absorbed by the black goop. “Good job, my little angel.” The television said to Cindy. When Cindy heard his approval she smiled wide.

“Now I can see daddy, right?”

“Why of course, darling!” As the Tv said this he opened his mouth showing his shining teeth that were partially stained by the black ink. “Your father is waiting for right in here.”

“Ok! Thank you so much Mister!”

“No no, thank you missy.”
