I was woken abruptly by the sounds of alarms and people screaming. I jumped out of bed and grabbed my rifle. I had gone to bed about 3 hours ago. My watched had ended and I was exhausted. I wondered on what was happening.

I loaded my gun and loosely threw on my uniform and hurried out of the door. The only thing that was on my mind was, is the royal family safe. I saw other guards frantically running along with maids and butlers. I was running through the halls when I saw a friend of mine.

“Joseph!” I called out to him. He slowed down. I could see the fear in his eyes. “What is going on?”

“The kingdom is under attack. It is our enemy!” Joseph said with urgency. “No one has put eyes on the royals!”

My stomach sank whenever I heard this. It was my job to make sure the royals were safe. She had failed. I was trying to figure out what to do. I needed a plan, but there was so much chaos I couldn’t think straight. Then it came to me. The royal family has a secret room. It is for emergencies like these.

“Commander what do we do?” Joseph asked seeing the plan forming in my eyes.

“I want you to gather some men to go reinforce our front lines. I want the rest of the men protecting the palace.” I said hurriedly. “I will get the palace staff to a safe place and I will make sure the royal family is safe.”

“On it!” Joseph said running off.
