STORY STARTER

I held her hand tight, and I wasn't ever letting go.

End or begin a story with this line.

I Always Wanted A Sister

I held her hand tight

And I wasn't ever letting go

Because last time I did

She left me without hope

Of a day when I could smile

And nod, and call her “my sister”

Of a day when I would proudly proclaim

That she was my father’s daughter

I held her hand tight

But through her skin I felt her spite

The internal sign

Of my love that she did not requite

I would give her the world

And part of heaven if God would agree

But she looked at my hand

And saw nothing worth loving

And so I stand before the door

That she slammed in my face

And so I stand before the gravestone

With no body to commemorate

This gravestone marks the end of a love

Stronger than a brothers’ pact

And firmer than a mother’s hug

Too bad it was one-sided
