POEM STARTER

Use the 'snowball technique' to write a poem, where the first line is one word long, the second line has two words, and so on.

Remember you do not have to 'build' on the first word - each line should use different words.

To Be My Own River

YA fiction

Am allowed

To feel things

You don’t know of

I am allowed to love

To dream, to achieve, to excel

I change the course of your path

The one you pushed me towards so hard

Harsh currents can’t bring me down as I dig

For freedom to be myself, to travel to different oceans

You will never be Mother Nature, no matter what you say

I will always defy you while the wind guides me forward

As I no longer have to pray to be my own river
