Paris

The train station was abandoned, it had been months since the fall of the Paris. It was empty except for the very last train that had attempted to leave the capital.

the train couldn’t leave because of the weight of all the passengers and thus stood as a testament to humanity’s inability to rationalise an escape attempt and descend into blind panic.

Pierre, a tall, brown haired, slender, lean muscular framed ex-military had been sent to retrieve the black box from the train, he had arrived on the scene, nearby overgrowth had started to take over the station, greenery sprouting all over, pushing metal fences up, brickwork out and taking back what had once been theirs.

Pierre, stepped toward the building, looked to the heavens, a storm had been brewing all the way here and it was quite a hike, given how vehicles were now scarce and means to keep them running even more so, β€˜no matter’ he thought, seeing the chain across the entrance still holding, cocking his head at the thought that no one had yet stripped the place of resources.

Pulling out some bolt cutters from his pack, the sky darkened, the first drops of rain fell as he wrapped the cutters around the chain, it caught, with gritted teeth and enough force he broke the chain, it fell to the asphalt, and he made his way inside.

Pulling the doors to, he looked around, the inside was a spitting image of the exterior, broken and useless ticket machines stood idle, and piles of unclaimed luggage strewn around, Pierre still amazed that this place had remained untouched was taken aback at the sheer number of resources visible, he walked around and made his way to the platform unto which stood the last train to never leave Paris.

The station was once a modern landmark, with its large glass domes embedded into its roof, now covered in rust and mildew, to its art deco architecture, with stalls and furniture to match.
