Write a story with an unexpected twist.
Consider the length of your story. It does not need to reach the max word limit to include a twist. One sentence can be enough. Consider, too, that a twist is not always a revelation, but can be subtle.

growing up and playing with blocks
stacking them higher and higher
one two three
going to school every day
making new friends and getting grades
one two three
getting a job and earning money
but never a break to pause
one two three
having little children that run around
not enough time to spend with them
one two three
they leave the house and with it
they also leave you
one two three
suddenly one day
one two three
turns into
three two one
and then it’s done.
