When you see a shadow

If couse it’s in the sun

But what if it’s not

What if it’s midnight

What if there are no street lights

No light of the moon

Nor there be porch lights

Not a light to be seen

But in the dark

There’s a shadow that is following you

You can’t see your own

For it’s dark

But the shadow follows you

Through the empty void

You don’t know where to go

Nor do you know where you are

But the shadow was far behind

But it slowly gets closer

You quicken your pace

The shadow follows after

A scream enters your lungs

It echos off the…Walls?

You don’t remember being

Left in a room

You keep running

Like a zombie but not slow

Your hands out in front of you

So you don’t bump into anything

Your heart begins to race

The shadow is still on pursuit

You trip over something

You seem to fall over

But then your now in the body

Of a shadow

You watch the human get up

You want to leave

But when the human starts to run

You are pulled with an

Unseen force

The human looks back

Finally sees they are not the shadow

The stand there, shocked

Their voice is shallow

“I don’t know where you came from”

My voice was just a breath

And I walked away, all my choice

I didn’t believe it until

The light flooded in

The human stared back at me

As I left him alone

He looked to see his shadow was gone

What was the point of the shadow?

Was it a spirit of a ghost

Trapped in his body

That was finally set free
