In The Back
I woke up in the back seat
I was snoring to the beat
I don’t remember sitting here
I just remember my fear
Taken by dad unwilling
After mom did the billing
Dad couldn’t pay child support
So he took me to his fort
It was out of my control
Country is better with my foal
Why do parents have to fight
Can’t they make up make it right?
My mom took my dad to court
Yay she won now no more fort
Dads in sales so gone a lot
Time wasn’t something I got
Divorce through; I lived with mom
For country life is the bomb
City life is where dad lives
Close quarters equals the sieve
Childhood was hard without dad
Minority so so sad
Divorce was rare thing back then
Mom taught me to say “I can”
Mom found love and some good friends
We got through all the dead ends
Ups and downs but without strife
With God I got through life
