Have I been here before? Sometimes things are a bore To the zoo or to the store These are the clothes I wore
I went on to a trail Ran a ways without fail Went home to get the mail Then remembered a sale
Then I drove to the shop And saw a rabbit hop In the grass never stop Then listened to hip hop
Sometimes I have a dream And things aren’t as they seem Then remember a meme And I have watched this team
Again have I been here? I know toward south to steer The car when I have fear Knowing that my God’s near
Dear Devil you can’t stop me I love God down on my knee I won’t listen to your call Keep on dreaming take a fall
You were an angel; no more Why did you start to keep score I can depend on Jesus Every day from dawn to dusk
Your tricks don’t trick everyone Like those that trust in the Son Say get behind me Satan For on his name I will stand
Jesus is the cornerstone He will not leave me alone He gives me joy, hope and love As he looks down from above
On a hot day in Egypt two young adults explored the area near the pyramids. A rain storm began. Then lightning flashed.
“Let’s go in the pyramid,” said June. She loved adventure.
“Not a good idea,” said Ron. He liked to keep to himself.
“We need to get away from the lightning,” said June.
“I’d rather head toward the entrance where you buy tickets and hover there until the storm is over,” said Ron.
“I’m going to sneak inside,” said June.
“Suit yourself,” said Ron. “I’m heading to the entrance.”
June snuck inside the pyramid by walking into an entrance that wasn’t staffed. She found the king’s chamber. She heard groaning. Rowr Rowr. She slid down an air shaft to the queen’s chamber.
She heard more groaning. She couldn’t cry for help, because she wasn’t supposed to be in the pyramid and tours weren’t happening at that time. More groaning. Rrrrrr. Rrrr. Then she heard footsteps. The footsteps sounded like the person had on metal shoes. Stomp stomp. She found an escape shaft and walked on ground level of the pyramid.
Next she heard MEOWW. PFFT!! PFFT!! A cat? I guess Egyptians buried their cats maybe in tombs too. The meows came from outside the pyramid.
She escaped to the outside and ran to find Ron. June couldn’t find Ron or anyone else for that matter. The dark sky covered the area as it continued to storm. Mummified cats roamed the area.
June ran what seemed like forever and found the parking lot where she and Ron parked their car. She couldn’t find the car. She called Ron,”. Brrring.
Ron answered,” Hello, this is Ron.”
“Ron, where are you? I’m in the parking lot. Could you please come get me?” said June shivering.
“On my way, I didn’t know what to do and I couldn’t find you since you snuck in the pyramid. Are you okay?” said Ron.
“I’m freaked out! I’ll tell you the story when you get here. Hurry there’s eerie things happening,”said June.
Ron jumped in the car and exceeded the speed limit to get there. June sat outside the entrance to the pyramid hunkered against the edge. Ron drove in and June ran to the car. She dripped of rain drops and Ron had towels on the car seats for her.
“I’m freezing. Thank you for hurrying here!” said June.
“So what scared you?” said Ron as he drove out of the parking lot.
“ I entered an unstaffed entrance and found the kings chamber then I heard groaning so I walked to find the queen’s chamber. More groaning…,” said June.
“Who was groaning?” said Ron.
“I don’t want to know… do you?” said June. Then I heard loud footsteps. I escaped down a shaft to ground level then heard cats meowing. Mummified cats were walking around the area, so I ran toward the parking lot and the car was gone and you know the rest of the story.”
“Where are the mummified cats now? I didn’t see them when I pulled in,” said Ron.
“They are closer to the pyramids. Please don’t let me go on an adventure by myself again,” said June.
“Well, I can’t force you. I’m glad you are safe now though,” said Ron.
“Me too,” said June.
“Hey Tom what are you doing today?” said Stanley.
“I’ve got the whole day free,” said Tom.
“Do you want to go to the Juniper Corn Maze in Jasper with me?” said Stanley.
“Sounds good,” said Tom.
“Let’s meet at the corn maze. I have a dinner date at 5:30 with my mom,” said Stanley.
Stanley arrived at Juniper Corn Maze at 9:30 so he sat in his car listening to a YouTube video. Next Tom pulled in at 9:45. They walked to the entrance to pay the $5.00 per person entry fee. They each held a map of the maze to help figure out which direction to explore to find the maze exit.
They entered the corn maze and followed a path toward the center of the maze. There were granola bars, apples, bananas -NR bottles of water in the center. They continued east without an exit so they returned to the middle.
Next they went north and saw lightning flash, but carefully trodded on and didn’t find an exit so they returned to the center.
Lastly, they walked south and the wind began to blow the corn stalks back and forth so they couldn’t see the path clearly. They didn’t find an exit so they again returned to the center.
After being stuck in the center for a half hour without cell phone service, they walked until they found a spot toward what they thought was the entrance and they found service. Tom said, “Let’s call the owners,” No one answered the phone.
Then Stanley called 911,” Hello we are stuck at Juniper Corn Maze and we can’t find the exit due to the storm. Can you rescue us?”
The operator said, “We’ll fly over to rescue you after the storm calms down. Go to the center of the maze and kneel down with your hands over your heads. When you hear us overhead stand up and wave your arms. Also turn on your cell phone flashlight so we can see you.”
Thirty minutes later Tom heard a whirring sound. Tom and Stanley stood and waved their hands and turned on the flashlights to their cell phones. The helicopter rescuers threw down ladders so Tom and Stanley could climb up to the helicopter. The center of the maze wasn’t large enough for the helicopter to land.
Tom said, “Stanley you go first.” Stanley climbed the ladder up to the helicopter. Then shortly after that Tom took his turn climbing.
While Stanley stood waiting for Tom,he said, “Hey, I see more people stuck in the maze.” The helicopter veered that direction and rescued four more people.
The helicopter flew the people to the maze parking lot and let them off after making sure everyone was healthy and had good vitals.
The storm calmed down so the six people from the maze talked a little. “That was scary,” said Sally.
“We went every way possible and couldn’t find the exit,” said Tom.
“The lightning scared me and the wind blew too hard to find the trails,” said Stephanie.
“I’m so glad you saw us to have the helicopter come rescue us,” said a pair of twins.
“Your welcome,” said Stanley,” this was an experience that we won’t forget.”
Then they got in their cars and drove home.
If I survive, can I go home? For trust me I would love to roam And be among my family Live a life of humility
I’ll trust and always do my best As I conspire on my next quest Loving animals and green plants And sometimes I may try to dance
I will show love to my neighbor For the Lord God is my Savior He will help me through many days Oh Lord how I can count the ways
If I survive, can I go home? Where I will love and I will roam I’ll spend time with my family And live life with humility
“I’m not marrying him. I don’t even know him. I don’t care about money!” screamed Darla, the Princess of Jana, as she turned and stomped upstairs to her bedroom.
“We need the alliance with Fina in order to succeed. That’s why you’re marrying Chester, King of Fina,” said King Jarod.
“Chester what kind of name is that?” said Darla. “What were his parents thinking?”
“Can we meet then I’ll decide?”said Darla from upstairs.
“You will meet tomorrow at 1 o’clock,” said King Jarod from the bottom of the stairs.
“I guess, but father, I want to marry someone I love,” said Darla.
Darla’s mom, Queen Carla, walked into Darla’s room. “Darla, your father and I had an arranged marriage and we are happy.”
“Yes mom but…..” said Darla.
“No buts, you’ll meet him tomorrow. I hear he’s dashing,” said Queen Carla.
“We’ll see….looks aren’t everything,” said Darla as she pulled a book off her shelf. She sat in her room and read a book full of dragons, fairies, and love. She enjoyed her solitude. Then she went for a walk in the gardens.
Princess Darla lived for the colors of the flowers in the gardens. She loved the butterflies, moths and the honey bees. She also watched the hummingbirds eating nectar. She spent the day wandering. Then returned home for supper and retired.
Sleep didn’t come easy since she was thinking about King Chester. He’s a king so he must be my fathers age she thought. I don’t know if I can handle this marriage of convenience. Maybe I’ll run away or forfeit my crown. How would my parents like that? She thought deviously. Sleep eventually came but it wasn’t sound sleep. Her cat, Sylvester, jumped on her bed.
The next morning Sylvester meowed for food and wanted Darla to wake up to cuddle. Sylvester purred loudly. Darla chose to care for her cat herself rather than bother the servants. She loved her cat.
She dressed for a morning five mile jog in the forest. What if I arrive home after one o’clock? She thought. I better be home for lunch to dress to meet King Chester. I’ll get it over with maybe it won’t be so bad, she thought. N
She ate toast and grape jelly when she came home. Then went to her room to read again. After a couple chapters she showered, dressed and went downstairs for tea with her mom.
“Are you ready to meet the king today? asked Queen Carla.
“Ready as ever….” said Princess Darla sarcastically. “I’m not making any promises.”
“Thank you for agreeing to meet the King,” said Queen Carla, “Please be on your best behavior.”
“I will; this whole thing makes me nervous. I’m to young to marry a king. Is he dad’s age?” said Darla.
“Didn’t we tell you? He’s 22 just three years your senior. No wonder your nervous. We wouldn’t ask you to marry someone your fathers age. That would be weird for sure,” said Queen Carla then ate a truffle.
“That makes me feel better. I just couldn’t imagine being with someone dads age?” said Princess Darla sipping her tea.
The bell rang and the family ate steak, potatoes, and rolls. They ate blueberry pie for dessert.
They sat in the living room until they heard a knock on the door. Sylvester meowed and purred on Princess Darla’s lap. The golden retriever barked and the butler went to the door. “King Chester has arrived Miss,” said the butler.
“Let him in and bring him to the drawing room,” said Queen Carla to the butler.
“Thank you mom,” said Darla.
“Your welcome I wanted you to be able to prepare your mind before you meet the king,” said Queen Carla with a smile. “Don’t take too long I’ll see you soon.”
Darla took a breath and said a prayer as she put Sylvester on the floor. She walked down the hall to the drawing room. She didn’t frequent this room often because she didn’t have many visitors.
Queen Carla was right King Chester was dashing maybe this could work but she wanted to marry for love and would make that clear. They walked in the garden. “I love gardens,” King Chester said as he identified many insects and birds.
“I love insects and birds,”said Princess Darla. “Do you enjoy exercising?”
“I exercise on a trail near my castle. I love nature,” said King Chester.
Maybe this won’t be bad after all thought Princess Darla.
A scientist named Sam rocketed with his dog Jazzy to an unnamed planet. He built his tent and researched the planet to help scientists on Earth learn more. They had two weeks of supplies of food. His goal was to find water.
One day they travelled five miles east of the camp to look for water. They walked and jogged. Then they rested under a tree to have a picnic but found nothing. They returned to camp.
The next day they travelled west. There’s got to be water if there’s a tree, Sam thought. They found a puddle. They returned to the tree for the night and ate leftovers from lunch.
The third day they returned to camp for two days worth of supplies then they travelled south ten miles. There weren’t any signs of humans or animals. They walked farther and found a pond. They ran and played in the water. They tired themselves out and fell asleep in the grass.
The next week after playing in the pond they travelled north to look for more water. It took a couple nights and a day, but they found an ocean. The scent of salt floated in the air. They splashed around and saw birds flying to and fro. They spent one more night then began traveling back to camp.
At camp, supplies were low and Jazzy began coughing. They were scheduled to return to Earth in two days. Jazzy got worse and worse so Sam went to get pond water which was ten miles away. He ran most of the way and rested as he gathered some water. Then he walked most of the way back to camp. Jazzy died while drinking water. Sam was too late.
Sam radioed Earth to tell about the water and that the rocket would be lighter since Jazzy died. Then he travelled back to the tree to bury Jazzy. He took time to find a rock to place near the gravesite. He
The next day, Sam rocketed home. The rocket propelled itself so he could reminisce about Jazzy.
Sam landed in the ocean and floated on a life boat until a ship rescued him and brought him to shore. When he came to shore people held signs welcoming him home from Jazzy. The planet was unnamed so Sam was confused.
He walked into the headquarters and found his boss. “Why were people holding signs that said welcome back from Jazzy?” Sam said.
“When we heard that Jazzy died, many locals pleaded that we name the planet Jazzy. We voted and everyone agreed,” said the boss.
Tears flowed from Sam’s eyes. The boss gave Sam a tissue. “Thanks man,” said Sam.
