POEM STARTER

Submitted by Maranda Quinn

Write a Somonka from the perspectives of two lovers. A Somonka is made of two Tankas, with the second responding to the first.

A tanka consists of five lines with a syllabic structure of 5-7-5-7-7

Hidden Truths

The bright love we share

It can last without the air

The air of sweet lines

Now replaced with a gem’s shine

And a ring on what is mine

The dark love we share

Has been tarnished by the air

The air of your ghost

Which can not ever replace

The true love once in its place
