STORY STARTER

The day you've been waiting for has finally arrived...

childhood love

I’m not really sure if this poem makes sense, but I thought I’d try my hand at a different form of writing poems.

The day finally arrived, where,

A story unraveled, long and true

About a boy and a girl,

And the that was born, anew

A golden haired boy

With the sea swirling in his eyes

And a small young girl,

Her eyes on nothing but the prize

Her face covered in freckles, adorned

Her soft smile a place he called home

They were inseparable since birth

A blessing ? Or a curse?

She was fixated on her future

She believed happiness could be bought

Through degrees and figures

Her life existed simply through numbers

But he was aloof, a wandering traveler

Wanted to see where his feet would take him

To a nearby mountain, or a stream

Waning to learn the thing you couldn’t teach

The drifted apart

Soon after they reached 18

Each one going off

To pursue their dreams

They said farewell,

Tears staining their cheeks

Never goodbye,

Only I’ll see you again

And the met again

years later

Only to meet

A stranger

They didn’t recognize each other

For timed had aged them

Their dreamed had been shattered

The curse of reality had befallen them

In their time outside

The world had opened their eyes

The girl realized the world was much bigger than she

And the boy realized all of it was blasphemy

The world rotates round and round

And time flies past

We seem to never

make moments last

They hugged and cried

We’re together again, you and i

We’ll face the big world hand in hand

Because I now know who I am

They stayed together

For the rest of their days

Passed away

Surrounded by the children they raised

They taught their kids to dream far and wide

But to never forget that sometimes you can cry

Joy and sadness come hand in hand they preached

And the lessons with the most

Are the ones you can never teach
