Serenity
The crystine water rocks back and forth
Droplets sprinkling the ivory sand
Soaking in the sunshine
Children in swimsuits run across the seaside
Their tiny feet making small muddy imprints
In otherwise pristine white seafloor
The glowing morning blue sky
Fades to a shimmering pink haze
As evening draws near
The swarming families
Soon leave the ocean and fun behind
Packing up to go home
Suddenly I am the only one left
Surrounded only by the cool breeze and sand
Stretching out for miles
Memories flash in my head
Of a small, freckled faced boy
Making sandcastles while lauging in joy
A woman with a kind faced smile and pale blue eyes
Inquestions what I’m doing
Looking at my sandy creation
I giggle for a bit
Suddenly getting hiccups
To which the woman laughs
She picks me up
Craddling me in her arms like a baby
Rocking me back and forth, ignoring my screamed yet joyful protests
All too sudden I snap out of the haze I’m in
And face the shock of reality
Yet another time
But instead I smile
Gently putting my head down on the sand
Lying still and calm
Serenity
