Dead Man Walking
I’m a dead man walking,
Fighting on the other side.
Escaping execution by talking,
Laughter bouncing off my pride.
I’m a dead man walking,
I’m running out of time.
I’ll take out the sheriff by stalking,
Secrecy of mine’s so sublime.
There’s a shadow hiding in crack of my skull,
He keeps me warm as I told him so.
And although he seems like a numskull,
He let’s my rivers run and waters flow.
One day I escape the wretched chain,
Shadow in the skull kept banging on.
But if I hold real tight, and make it to the lane,
I’ll be a free man and burst into song.
Now there’s one little secret I have to expose,
And I have to admit it ain’t nice.
I killed my wife, where’s her body? God knows,
But now you see why I have a price.
I’m a dead man walking,
The noose is sweeping far.
Tick tock so time is clocking,
I can’t escape the sheriffs car.
I’m a dead man walking,
The rope is firmly tied.
I’m a dead man walking,
To you my friends, I am goodbyed.
