The Invisible Silence
The muffled voices, silent screaming the undertone to it all. Invisible hands reach up from the ground. Invisible tears and blood form an invisible sea that closes in above my head. Smiles invoke a dark, unbridled fury. A Titan shifts behind me, plucking away the good and peeling back my invisble mask. My silent begging as my life pours through the cracks is unheeded. What people see is someone who knows the path of life, who knows where it leads, who is ready, what I am is someone who held the map upside down but pretended it was right, clinging to the notion, someone whose destination, whose AONB, whose perfect moment is behind them and who believes if they run toward it fast enough they’ll bring it back. I’m the person who got to the top of Everest and forgot to take a picture.
