Love

The harsh waves thud against the hull

Of the ship that carries me

Across a vast and violent ocean

Toward the land I see.

The squalls are fierce as hurricanes—

I fear to lose my mind!

‘Tis hard to act or to think clearly

In this turbulent wind.

When I see you walking toward me,

My heart thunders against my breast.

My mind grows foggy, and I can’t fathom

A single word. In silence, I rest.
