“Took you long enough.” Her voice echoed through the silent room that had just seconds ago was booming with noise.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“There is only one thing each of the time freezes have in common. Me. I have been watching from the shadows, waiting to see if you noticed.”

“What does it mean?”

“It means,” she said slowly, “that you are a powerful asset to me.”

“Powerful?”

“Yes, so powerful that I may have snuck something in your drink. It should hit right about now.” And with that, he collapsed onto the floor.
