The Day The Monsters Came

The day the monsters came

They flung open all the doors

Started screeching insulting names

Stained boots pounding on the floors

The sound of the alarm

Piercing the heavy air

Loud bangs indicated harm

Hiding places were hard to share

Alone, scared and terrified

Looking for some sweet solace

But if by chance you were eyed

The floor was far from flawless

So, although you must keep having fun

Keep the door shut tightly, might the monsters come
