Stage Fright

It was the first time I had ever

Experienced stage fright

I always loved being on stage

But today my palms were sweating

The bright lights hurt my eyes

And the audience seemed to mock me

I felt so alone even though

My fellow theater friends were there with me

I tried to let the words out

But they were stuck between my teeth

And tongue and wanted to run off stage

A deep breath could save me, maybe

The audience was staring at me

It was time to say my lines

Wait, I’m not ready, I saw my parents

Down below! I’m so stupid

But I said my lines at last, tho’

I stuttered over every word

The audience was patient though

And the whole world seemed to clap for me
