Rescue
_That looks like a capsized ship. And someone is stranded on it._
“Captain! A stranded man, over,” the lookout radioed down to the wheelhouse.
“Alright!” The captain answered. “Louis and Will, lower the boat and being him back, over.”
“Aye aye, captain.”
A pitifully drenched man arrived back to the ship with help from Louis and Will. He was shaking and had trouble coordinating his motor movements.
After downing a full bottle of water, the man clutched his stomach and looked like he was about to hurl.
Then, he dropped onto his side and started to seize.
“Goodness! You should have drank that slowly. Give him some salt, lads.”
Will jumped back down into the boat with the empty water bottle and filled it with sea water.
After pouring it over the man’s lips, the man stabilized quickly.
He sprawled out weakly on the deck unconscious.
The ship’s doctor came and checked his vitals.
“Airway clear. Breathing shallow. Heart rate rapid and weak. Dehydration most likely. No visible injuries. Responsive to stimuli.”
The crew dropped him off at their next port using a stretcher.
A passerby saw the man’s face and exclaimed. “Jimmy is back! I’ll have to let Agnes know. She’ll finally stop crying everyday.”
He ran towards the city with the good news.
Before the crew finished restocking their supplies, a woman with puffy eyes ran towards them with a basket.
“Thank you so much for rescuing my husband!”
Agnes handed Will the basket.
“Just some leafy vegetables for the crew—sorry it’s not much. I was afraid I’d miss you.”
Will politely accepted the basket and it was heavier than he had expected.
“Not a problem, ma’am, this is plenty.”
After a few more heartfelt thanks to each member of the crew, Agnes waved them off and clasped her hands in prayer for their safe travels.
