POEM STARTER
Write a poem about a physical journey that you have been on.
Explore the tangible aspects of a journey you have been on, and how these physical characteristics may have impacted mental and spiritual aspects of the journey too.
I didn’t know
I didn’t know
That being tired could be a personality trait
That being tired could take away over my life
That is would suck away joy
And it would slowly break away the walls
I worked so hard to build
I didn’t know
That this wasn’t normal
That people woke up refreshed
And were not planning the day
Based on a crash bound to happen
I didn’t know
How much it would affect others
When I showed my tiredness
And let it hold me back
From helping
From learning
From doing
I didn’t know
How much being tired tolls on your body
Weakens your muscles
Takes your mind from commission
Slurs your speech
Sucks it all like a leech
I didn’t know
What tired really felt like
Its not yawning late at night
Or getting in bed early
But you would think so right?
I didnt know
Being tired
Was more than being tired
Or all the different meanings of tired
Because being tired
Isn’t just needing sleep
It is needing a break
And I didn’t know
Till I was the one to break
