Identity

Cackling, Dr. Bat laches a young teenage girl to a bed. “Humans will pay for what they did to me!” The super sized bat laughs evilly as he flaps he silky black wings. I watch as my brother, SuperTeen, visibly gulps. I place my hand on his, “it’ll be okay, brother, we are superheroes after all.” SuperTeen gives a fake life and a bead of sweat rolls off his face. Suddenly, ShadowWing swoops down and kicks Dr. Bat. “Argh! You silly superheroes, always trying to foil my plans.” He grabs ShadowWing’s tail and pulls him down. Dr. Bat whispers something in ShadowWing’s pointy ear, and since I have super-hearing, I know what he says: “the humans did the same to you as they did to me. Join me, and we will defeat the human race.” ShadowWing freezes, but shakes his head “no” and Dr. Bat slings him into a capsule. “I’ll do away with him later.” The bat laughs.

My heart begins to pound, both my human best friend and my super best friend are in jeopardy. I look at my brother and he solemnly nods back. It was time. SuperTeen flies down from our place in the hole in the ceiling and I leap over Dr. Bat. Dr. Bat begins to grab his ray gun when I stop him. “We mean well.” I say, looking over at the girl on the metallic table eyeing us. “They look familiar . . .” I hear her mumble. SuperTeen looks down at his silver boots and prays at his blue gloves. “We surrender. . .” Suddenly a shadowy creature appears and grabs him, covering his mouth and making him squirm. “No!” I cry, aiming a ice rope at the creature’s standing paws. The creature jumps over the rope and runs over to the girl. “Stop!” I scream, but to my surprise, the creature frees the girl. Out of no where, a giant hawk swoops in from the window and carries the girl away. “What?” I exclaim. “We here to rescue.” The big creature says in broken English. I see ShadowWing claw at the capsule’s glass and breaks through. He runs toward me and scoops me up. “What are you doing?” I say, shocked. “Saving you.” ShadowWing jumps up to the window, when my mask blows off. ShadowWing almost rope me when he sees who I am, the real me. My mask covers my whole face and keeps my long, flow-y brown hair, so I probably look nothing like what he envisioned. SuperTeen flies up to us and smiles nervously, “yeah, that’s my sister. April Ferrel.” ShadowWing’s jaw falls open. “The girl from the experiment that went wrong?!” I nod. “It caused both my brother and I to have, well, super powers.” ShadowWing sets me down and flicks his black tail. Dr. Bat suddenly flies up and when he spots me, he looks as shocked as ShadowWing did. “You- you were in the same accident I was . . .” His voice trails off. “Yes, I know, John . . .”

The End! 😊
