WRITING OBSTACLE

Sanctuary. Elevate. Conscious.

In a story of no more than 10 lines, use these three words in any order. Try not to randomly throw them in, but think about a storyline that allows you to link them all naturally.

Unconscious Sanctuary.

Conscious in my sanctuary,

Where I breathe, rest and feel merry,

The outside can’t coax me to leave,

Steal my poor mood like common thieves.

Conscious in my sanctuary,

As life prods, nags, and eats at me,

Drugs me, but I cannot give in-

I cannot fall, can’t sleep within.

Drowsy in my sanctuary,

It’s all the same, its hands choke me,

I push my chest to evelate-

Breathe in and out before it’s too late.

My lids droop in my sanctuary,

From a forced sip of herbal tea,

Why does this life banish me from,

The glitter of life, earth’s sweet hum?

Spinning in my sanctuary,

As struggles whirl, dizzying me,

I shout out for my haven’s hands,

But betraying ears my pleas land.

Unconscious in my sanctuary,

I can’t breathe, rest or feel merry,

Nowhere is safe in my world,

For I lie lifeless, alone, curled.

(I know I did over 10 ten lines, but pretend like it meant stanzas instead )
