Her Hair

She never said “I’m leaving you”; she just left. But, then, she didn’t fully leave. She slowly erase herself from my life bit by bit.

The day she left, I went home and cleared all of her belongings out of the apartment, packed in a suitcase and rolled it out of the door. I thought a threshold of some sort may help me with a clean cut but it didn’t. I found her hair everywhere in the room, on the bed sheets, on my clothes.

When she was with me I have thought about her being annoying, always whining about this and that. How funny was that she didn’t stop being annoying even after leaving by letting traces of her existence stimulate my already exhausted nerves when I was least prepared.

To the point, I instinctively thought she was moving in the house when it was just the air rushing in from the window.

I wiped my wet eyes and picked up the lint roller, rubbed it against my shoulder. How long would it take to get rid of all her hair?
