POEM STARTER
Heavy rain, cracked windows, and a forgotten song.
Use these descriptors as inspiration for a poem.
Spring
Mama always used to sing
On rainy spring days
When the trees sagged from water weight
And the clouds dissolved into water sprays
Today is a rainy spring day
And Mama is long gone
Singing with the trees
On a headstone farm
The window’s still cracked
Where you hit it last May
After we broke up
On a long lost sunny day
It threatens to shatter
As the droplets pummel it
Hitting like little fists
More vexed than you’ve ever been
And I try to hum Mama’s song
To keep the noise out
To keep the emotions bottled up
To drown all water down
But I can’t remember it
