Comfy And Cozy
The sound of muffled rain filled the small room, along with the quiet crackling of the fireplace. It’s soft glow giving the cozy room a golden aura. I sat on an orange sofa, tracing the droplets on the window with my eyes, sipping a mug of coffee.
The warm hint vanilla soothed the back of my throat, leaving a nice aftertaste. I watched the cars drive by slowly in the hazy fog. I was wearing my favorite oversized sweater and matching sweatpants, my knees pulled close to my chest.
I continued to sip on my coffee by the fireplace, listening to the soft crackle. Other people in similar clothing holding similar mugs came and left, spacing out at different warm-coloured tables. I smiled, even knowing this kind of peace wouldn’t last forever.
This kind of peace was rare, and often taken for granted. I had learned to savor these moments, to enjoy them while they lasted.
Because the simplest things are the best things.
