Memories: Chapter 3

((little lore thing for Colette in my ROTTMNT fanfic))

((Also this is sort of the prompt because in my opinion the person in the photo looks deep in thought, and that’s what I was going for with this))

Colette sat on the bench at the park, look up at the dusky sky, a feeling of contentment and sadness at the same time.

Bri, her dad, and her always hung out here, playing, laughing, and telling stories.

She had to be heading home, but something was calling to her to stay.

_Memories…_

(Seven) [Four years ago Florian adopted Colette and Bri]

“Daddy! Look at me!” A young girl giggled, her blonde curls covering her face as she clung onto a tree branch, the cherry blossoms fluttering down to the ground.

Her father, a fox yokai, laughed, and stretched out his arms, motioning for her to jump. “C’mon, Colette, time to go. Bri and your mum are waiting at home.”

The girl groaned, and then looked down from where she was. It seemed like the ground was a million feet down. “But Daddy! I’m scared…”

The fox shook his head, and kept his arms stretched open wide. “Trust me, Colette, I’m here. I won’t let you fall.”

The young girl nodded, and shifted in the trees, her eyes fixated on his arms, she took a deep breathe, and then leaped.

Her father quickly caught her, laughing softly as he cradled her in his arms. “See? I’ll never let you fall.”

_“Never.”_

(Ten) [Florian has become abusive and cruel]

The girl was now ten, and her heart was hard. Her trust that she once had was gone, and she always kept her guard up.

“Hello? Earth to C? Ya alive?” Her twin, Bri asked, poking her sister’s forehead, her white and red streaked hair bouncing.

Colette shook her head, smiling awkwardly. “Yeah! I’m alive, silly.” She joked, a smirk suddenly forming.

“Well then, since you’re alive, wanna see who can hold onto the monkey bars the longest?” Bri grinned, standing up and pulling her sister up with her.

Colette nodded and ran after her sister who was racing to the monkey bars. Bri was the only one she trusted, and she never wanted to loose her.

(Thirteen) [Bri was killed a year ago.]

Colette stared at her trembling hands, tears running down her face. “It’s been one year since you’ve been gone. I miss you so much.”

The spirit of her sister chuckled, sitting next to her on the bench. “Awh, don’t worry. You can still see me, just not in my material form.”

Colette wiped away her tears, staring at the spirit, and noticing she was a…_mouse?_

“Why are you like this…?” Colette asked, not sure whether to be excited or horrified.

“Well, once you left me, kniwing I was fully dead, some weird bug bit me and mutated me. And now I’m… well I’m whatever this is.” Bri said matter-of-factly. “I don’t know how it worked, since I’m dead, but now I’m a mouse spirit, and it’s pretty awesome.”

Colette chuckled softly, but was still sad, and wished she could cry into her sister’s chest, which she could never truly do again.

“Why did you have to go, so soon..?” Colette mumbled, looking up at Bri, and she just chuckled.

“It wasn’t _my_ choice. But I’m still here. You can see me.” Bri smiled, wrapping her sister up in a hug. Though she was a spirit, Colette could feel the warmth and love she was pouring into her.

“I’ll always love you, sis. No matter what. And don’t forget that.” Bri said, almost in a stern manner as she pointed to Colette’s heart.

“I won’t forget…”

(Fifteen: present day) (Colette has been mutated into a mouse too)

“Who are they?” Bri asked, tapping on Colette’s shoulder. Colette practically jumped out of her skin, turning around to see her spirit sister.

Colette stared down at her phone, a picture of her, Audie, Fin, Archie, and the Mad Dogs for the Lock Screen. “O-oh! They’re my friends…”

Bri smirked, nudging Colette’s shoulder happily. “See! I told you you’d make friends! And other mutants at that!” Colette shook her head, smiling softly.

“I’m glad I listen to you, Bri. And thanks for being there for me. Well, at least in your way of being there.” Colette said, holding her sister’s paw.

Bri smiled, nuzzling her softly, blue sparkles flying around them. Then, her smirked widened as she looked down at the picture once more.

“Hey, that blue turtle is kind of hot~.” She giggled, elbowing Colette teasingly.

“WHAT THE FRICK BRI——!!”

✍️Writer’s Note✍️

I hope y’all liked it! I know it was sort of sad to begin with, so I decided to add some humor in the end.

Bri is the type of person whom if someone comes up to her and is like: “Oh gosh! Are you okay?” She would reply: “Lol nope.”

Also, Bri as a spirit is like what she would look like normally (except a mouse mutant) but with blue sparkles surrounding her. And only people she was close to can see her.

Anyways, love y’all! Have a great day/night!
