Write a poem about the feeling of youth.
Which elements will you explore to portray this feeling to your readers?
Remembrance
Oh that I still had
The fire of my fleeting youth
But my moment has come to have passed
I've lost what once was
And I'm alone in this truth
I'm still chasing a ghost fading fast
I'm stuck in this fog
I can see nothing ahead
And behind me lies only the past
As I make way through
I find my courage has fled
Will I find the other side at last?
“I’m still chasing a ghost fading fast”, that line hit me so hard. This poem is absolutely beautiful and captures the feeling growing up perfectly. There’s a tug of war between a curiosity if you’ll discover your future self vs. grief for the child you once were that really comes forward and I really relate to. I really enjoyed reading this!
